Resistance brief..

This is a leaflet that I designed using the information I collected and displayed on the poster that I produced originally. I thought it would be a good idea to produce a hand held tool to communicate the information so people can take in the information more slowly instead of having to rush and read it whilst they are walking by. Also it's the case of privacy..people who are suffering from domestic violence wouldn't really want to have to stop and take the number down off the poster they would probably prefer a hand held leaflet that they can take to the p[rivacy of their homes to get number and call for help.

The format of the leaflet is very standard although still in keeping with the shape of the poster, the layout inside is very simple so that information inside is being communicated correctly and is not distracted.

I thought that maybe adding lines through the word would add to the emphasis of resistance but i think this is playing around with the type too much and looking into it in too much detail when it needs to stay clear and communicate to people!I have experimented with the layout and colour of the type to see what differences it makes to how the message is being communicated. Again I don't want the type to distract the image but I still want to the type to speak for itself. Changing the colour does work but I don't think it is needed.

I thought that maybe adding lines around the voice acted as a sort of impression of a mouth, but after consideration and other opinions it became apparent that the lines were not needed and distracted attention away from message and image.
The type is starting to work here...depicting colours from the illustration for the type.
I decided to change to type face to Futura condensed and I think it instantly starts to work a lot better, it's not as heavy and clumpsy as Impact

I decided to produce a questionnaire so that I could get a wide range of opinions from people relating to the image and type that I had used...the feedback was helpful and it gave me security that the idea and concept was appropriate and targeting my audience.  It became apparent that if I wanted to use illustration then the image would definitely have to be back up with type to communicate the message more clearly.

After my crit it became apparent that the type that I had used was not appropriate for the poster, the colours I used were wrong and the type face could be improved. The pastel colours I used were just too gentle and feminine and I think I need to start to involve harsh browns and blacks if I want to create impact.

Above I have experimented with adding extra layers underneath my image creating more death and intrigue.
I have stepped away from the heavy colour of a red and black toned background and tried to make the image a bit more pure and I wanted to make the most of the image as I think it is quite hard hitting and people need to see it.

Above is an experiment I did with the half tone tool, I think it looks cool but it doesn't really have any relevance and it kind of spoils my drawing.
I have added a glow around the eye of my illustration to add emphasis ...

Experimenting with type sizing...making type larger distracts attention away from image which I don't want to happen and also I think that this brief is based around illustration and not typography.

Going back into my illustration and adding hair helped to make the lady look more feminine which I think was needed.

Original drawing that I sketched and I will later take into photoshop and experiment with colour variations to see if I can create more impact. I think the overall image is quite glamourous but still has a sad emotional depth that people can relate to.

Business cards for t-shirts...

Photographing my 'taste tees' brief in context...all items together how they would potentially be bought in a shop.
Final improved label, added chain to both label and leaflet so that it can be attached securely to my t-shirt as well as giving it a more professional look to it.

Catalogue/leaflet...

After talks in the crit it became apparent that the format of the leaflet needed adjusting. I have decided to work back into it cropping the size to 6cm by 9cm so that it can then be attached with a little chain to may label. Otherwise it didn't really have a 'place' it was just kind of floating about and could have been lost. So this way people will recieve their chosen t shirt with a label and leaflet of what other options there are available. Above is the layout of the improved leaflet design...
